Experience
John has experience in both the private and public sectors, with specific academic training in water resources and wastewater engineering. John's main focus is the design of water and wastewater treatment systems for small to medium sized communities, commercial complexes, casinos, and individual residences. John also has specific knowledge in the design of onsite wastewater systems for coastal communities such as Malibu, Carpentaria, Big Sur, and others.
John is a lecturer at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. John teaching a two quarter senior design class required for all graduating environmental engineering students. John also teaches graduate level wastewater treatment engineering courses specializing in onsite and decentralized wastewater treatment and management and small advanced onsite wastewater treatment systems. John is also working with California Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo and Howard Kolb with the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board to form the Cal Poly Onsite Wastewater Training Center.
John is an active member of the California Onsite Wastewater Association and the California Environmental Heath Association. Before forming Ensitu Engineering Inc., John worked in the Water and Wastewater Division of John L. Wallace and Associates in San Luis Obispo, California and in the Water Resources division of Rocky Mountain Consultants in Englewood, Colorado, where he designed sewer collection systems, water and wastewater lift stations, and water and wastewater treatment facilities. Subsequently, John worked for SCG Enterprises where he designed and installed onsite wastewater collection and treatment systems throughout the foothills of Colorado.
John also acted as a technical advisor to Santa Barbara County Environmental Health Department in developing onsite wastewater standards, The Colorado Environmental Health Association in developing design criteria for high altitude/cold weather advanced wastewater systems, and to Dr. Robert Siegrist at the Colorado School of Mines in developing Colorado Onsite Wastewater Training Center. The following representative projects illustrate the water and wastewater experience that John has acquired.
